If you're using small Type 1 cutting & grinding wheels you should also be using these SPEDECUT mandrels.

SPEDECUT mandrels for mounting small cutting and grinding wheels are precision machined, heat treated and case hardened. They're made with load bearing flanges for added safety and to hold the wheel straight and true. The low profile end design is ideally suited for working in tight areas. Available to fit 1/8", 1/4" or 3/8" arbor wheels up to 1/2" thick, SPEDECUT mandrels have a 1/4" shaft to fit all standard tool chucks and 1/4" collets.
